Mix1 All Natural Protein Shake Review
Endurance athletes training for a marathon, cycling race or triathlon need to consume a diet high in protein and carbohydrates while low in fat. If you’re looking for a protein supplement to help pre and post workout recovery, check out Mix 1.
This supplement was designed to meet your training goals and is rich in protein, fiber, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals while providing calories from an all-natural source.
Mix 1
Mix 1 was developed by three Colorado athletes as a natural, high-quality supplement to promote athletic performance and overall health safe and functionally.
The supplement’s key ingredient is whey protein isolate (WPI). This form of whey is produced from nutrients that are expelled during the process of creating cheese. WPI contains between 90-95% pure protein and is beneficial for lactose intolerant individuals as it contains little or no lactose.
Whey helps athletic performance in part because of its amino acid continent – which is similar to the makeup of our skeletal system. It provides branch chain amino acids, which limit muscle damage through glutamine storage while allowing us to sustain lean muscle mass
In addition to 15 grams of whey protein in each shake, Mix 1 also includes 3 grams of soluble fiber. Fiber has a variety of health benefits including a lower rate of glucose absorption to sustain energy longer.
Mix 1 is also high in 23 important vitamins and minerals which together have a slew of athletic benefits. Vitamins A, B, and are commonly thought of as immune boosters, and do play a key role in supporting a body under the high stress of a grueling workout.
However, these vitamins provide other benefits in keeping your body functioning at full speed. Vitamins A and D both work alongside calcium to strengthen bone density while Vitamin C can prevent muscle stiffness. The B vitamins included in this supplement boosts your athletic performance in a variety of fashions including the conversion of carbohydrates and protein to fuel, repair of damaged muscle, production of muscle mass and increase of cellular tissue.
Mix 1 contains a variety of minerals including calcium, manganese, selenium, sodium and potassium.
The Pros
Many nutritional supplements these days use artificial sweeteners, saturated fats and caffeine. However, this product is 100% natural, using organic cane sugar and juice as a sweetener to produce “healthy calories”.
If you prefer a specific flavor – take your pick. Mix 1 has seven different flavors in its peach, strawberry banana, blueberry vanilla, mixed berry, mango, chocolate and vanilla shakes.
Consumer reviews for the most part are positive and suggest that as a supplement designed to enhance your muscle and endurance or as a post-workout recovery – Mix 1 does the trick.
The Cons
This supplement appears to be made more specifically for an endurance athlete that needs those extra calories. However, Mix 1 also markets this supplement as an asset to moderate activity, and for lower levels of intensity there may be a bit too much sugar for a snack.
The Price
If you’re looking for a post-workout snack – we’d suggest that Mix 1 will do the trick. Be warned – this supplement’s not cheap – a package of 12 shakes will run you $41.95 retail.
