Twinlab PM Protein Fuel Review
Twinlab’s PM Protein Fuel is a casein based protein blend that is prescribed to be taken just before bed.
Casein is a milk-derived protein that is slow-digesting, enabling users to go long-periods of time without food, and best taken before bed.
Most muscle-loss occurs during sleeping, while the body goes into starvation mode and begins feeding off its own muscle tissue.
If you nourish the body with casein before sleep, you will not experience the starvation mode and thus will prevent muscle loss. Have you ever wondered why you weigh less in the morning?
Does Twinlab’s blend of protein for the PM stack up against other variations of casein-based blends?
About Twinlab PM Protein Fuel
Primary Active Ingredients:
Whey Protein Concentrate, Calcium Caseinate
Whey Protein Isolate, Micellular Casein
Milk Protein Concentrate.
“PM Protein Fuel provides Casein that is proven to provide slower absorption, providing up to 6 hours of sustained amino acid release; ideal before sleep, the time of heightened growth hormone release and muscle repair – to provide slower absorption for sustained amino acid release, to prevent muscle protein breakdown and enhance muscle recovery and recuperation.”
Conclusion
Our main criticism of Twinlab’s approach to casein is that it’s not the first listed ingredient in the blend-which probably means it’s not the dominant form of protein in this powder. We love the concept of PM’s philosophy-it would be great to prevent the body from going into starvation mode, it would be great to prevent muscle loss and help sustain the release of amino-acids over six hours!
But why not include MORE of the goodness? More casein would be even more effective than the quick digesting whey protein, especially the inclusion of whey isolates-which are super fast-digesting. GNC pulled their PM formula for this very reason, they wanted to create a blend of strictly 100% casein and leave out the rest. We’d advise going this route ourselves.
Comment
I use your Twinlab 100% Whey Protein Fuel but
there is a statement on the container “Do not use for weight loss”.
Why?
That’s exactly why I’m using it…. as a substitute for 2 meals per day.
